CONSTITUTION: A developing device is constituted of a developing sleeve consisting of a conductive material, a magnet roll 2, an ear height defining plate 3, an AC bias power source 4 and a photosensitive drum 5. The AC bias power source 4 is connected to the sleeve 1, and a charger, an optical system for exposure, a transfer charger, etc. are disposed around the drum 5. A high-resistance magnetic toner of ≥1013Ωcm was used in an electric field of 104V/cm as a developer, and a magnetic brush was formed around the sleeve 1 by the magnetic force of the roll 2, to which AC developing bias was applied, then good copied images could be obtained.
