Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the occurrence of discharge phenomena at the developing and reduce disturbances of images and damages of photoconductive recording layer by providing a high resistance layer to the back of the photoconductive recording layer in the electrostatic recorder using a reversal developing system.
CONSTITUTION: The resin such as polycarbonate which has been resistance-controlled by mixing polyvinyl alcohol or carbon is coated to a thickness of about 10μ on a conductive substrate 12 such as aluminum to form a high resistance layer 14 (preferably about 106 to 1012Ωcm in volume resistance value), on which is then provided a photoconductive recording layer 16 to provide a photosensitive drum 10. A bias power source 49 is connected between the conductive sleeve 48 of a developing device 40 and a base material 12 and is used by applying a bias of about 1000 volts. Electrostatic latent images are formed on the surface of the photosensitive drum 10 by an optical system 30 which is even charged to positive polarity by a charger 20. Next, the electrostatic latent images are reversal-developed by using high-resistance one-component toner 42 in a developing apparatus 40, after which the toner images on the drum 10 are transferred to recording paper 50 while the transfer bais is being applied by a corona charger 60.
