Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve transfer efficiency and prevent the influence of the change of enviromental conditions by applying the charges of the same polarity as that of magnetic toner from the back of a receptor in contact with an image carrier then applying the charges of the opposite polarity.
CONSTITUTION: The electrostatic latent images on a photosensitive drum are slided by a developing device 4 and are turned to visible images by toner. The voltage of +3KV of the same polarity as that of, e.g., toner, is applied through corona discharge by the first transfer device 6 to the transfer paper S placed on the electrostic latent images from its back. The charges applied to the transfer paper arrive at the electrostatic latent images through the magnetic toner and neutralize the opposite polarity charges thereof. After about 3/100 seconds of the operation of the first transfer device 6, the corona discharge of -6.5KV is applied by the second transfer device 7. Thereby, transfer of excellent efficiency may be accomplished. This method makes it possible to perform good transfer on plain paper even with the magnetic toner of specific volume resistance values 106 thru 1014Ωcm.
