Abstract

PURPOSE: To form images of excellent contrast repeatedly, by performing a specified process while the developer is carried on the surface of photoreceptor, in the repeated image forming method using a photoreceptor consisting of conductive layer, photoconductive layer and insulation layer.
CONSTITUTION: A photoreceptor A consisting of conductive layer a1, photoconductive layer a2 (e.g. n-type), and insulation layer a3 is positively charged by corona discharge (figure a), and the image is exposed and a negative voltage is applied by corona discharge at the same time (figure b), then it is fully exposed (figure c), and developed with toner T of the charge in the same polarity as the dark part D (positive polarity) (figure d). By exposing the photoreceptor carrying the toner T, a photo history is given to the photoconductive layer (which becomes low resistance, and the low resistance state is maintained for a while) (figure e). Next, by applying a corona discharge in the reverse polarity of the toner (negarive polarity) form the back of the transfer member P, the developed image is transferred on the transfer member P (figure f).
