Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a large number of reproduced image of good gradation from the same latent image, by applying a specified alternating bias electric field to the space between a member holding a thin film of one-component type developer and a member having an electrostatic latent image. CONSTITUTION:A one-component type developer is once transferred to the surface of electrostatic latent image-bearing plate 11 having backside electrode 12 and an insulating layer on a CdS layer, and then reversely transferred to the developer- holding, nonmagnetic stainless steel sleeve 13 having magnetic roller 17 in the inside by applying an alternating electric field (in the case of +500V latent image, difference between the maximum and minimum voltage 1,500V, frequency 400Hz) in the developing step, thus permitting an image of good gradation to be obtained, an amount of developer attached to be suppressed to the minimum amount necessary for image reproduction, and decay of the latent image to be small, and a large number of copies to be formed.
