Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain devoloped images excelling in reproducibility of medium contrast, by making the surface of developer carrier uneven electrocally, and characteristically distributing the effectiveness of developing bias. CONSTITUTION:A developing roller 6 has insulating materials 11... such as insulating silicone rubber coated on the surface of a conductive layer 10 such as conductive silicone rubber, and the surface is uneven electrically. When toner in a hopper 7 is deposited on this roller 6 through an electrode-doctor combination plate 8, the effectiveness of bias when developing may be distributed characteristically even if the charge of the deposited toner is uniform, so that a developed image excelling in medium contrast reproducibility may be formed. The same effect may be obtained by coating a nonconductive layer with a conductor to form an electrocally uneven developing roller.
