Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a developing device using one component type toner by providing a double image removing member constituted by a conductive substrate and a dielectric layer near the surface of a photoreceptor and attracting the toner forming double images to the dielectric surface thereby eliminating the double images.
CONSTITUTION: This is the developing device of developing the electrostatic latent images formed on a a photoreceptor 2 by using one component type toner, whereby the double image removing member 3 constituted by a conductive substrate 3a and a dielectric layer 3b is provided near the photoreceptor 2. The surface of the dielectric layer 3b is charged to positive by the charges of the same polarity as that of the charge characteristic of the toner deposited on the image part of the photoreceptor 2. Here, an electric field capable of attracting and depositing the negative-charged toner forming double images by depositing on the non-image part of the photoreceptor 2, i.e., double image charged toner, on the surface of the dielectric layer 3b is applied between the dielectrc layer 3b and photoreceptor 2. In this way, the double image toner having been deposited on the non-image part of the photoreceptor surface is removed, whereby the production of the double images may be prevented.
