Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain sharp and high-resolution images of not causing ground contamination by the developing method by which bias effect is produced in the developer donor of at least the surfaces whereof are of electric insulation type at the developing.
CONSTITUTION: Charges of minus exist on the surface of the insulation layer 5 of developing roller 3 and a toner layer is formed thereon. The toner having been charged to plus exists on the surface layer thereof. Since the polarity of the electrostatic latent image on a photoreceptor 1 is minus, the toner of a polarity opposite therefrom is electrostatically attracted, whereby developing is accomplished. On the other hand, in the non-image part, the minus charges slightly remain and have the attraction force to suck the toner but the attraction force of the charged charges on the developing roller 3 is stronger, preventing the toner from moving to the photoreceptor 1 in the non-image part. This enables the hihg-resolution images of not causing ground contamination to be obtained
