Abstract

PURPOSE: To complete 2-color development by once development without causing background stain, by rotating and moving the first and second colored magnetic toners provided with charges different from each other in polarity by friction charging in order to develop an electrostatic latent image.
CONSTITUTION: Insulating magnetic toners 18, 19 are attached to sleeve 21 containing magnetic roller 6, and carried in the direction of arrow C. At that time, the first colored magnetic toner 18 and the second colored magnetic toner 19 are charged by friction with the surface of sleeve 21. Each of toners 18, 19 is charged to a polarity reverse to each other due to the difference of each material property. Toners 18, 19 charged positively and negatively are attracted by positive and negative electrostatic latent images 4, 5 formed on photosensitive drum 20, e.g. in an electrostatic latent image formation process by the mutual electrostatic attraction, thus permitting negatively charged the second magnetic toner 19 to be attached to the areas of positive electrostatic latent image 4, and positively charged the first magnetic toner 18 to be attached to the areas of negative electrostatic latent image 5.
