Abstract

PURPOSE: To form a uniform and thin magnetic brush, by separating a nonconductive magnetic toner attached to a rotary sleeve around a magnet roller temporarily from the sleeve surface prior to development of a static image.
CONSTITUTION: Nonconductive magnetic toner 1... in toner container 2 is carried along the circumference of nonmagnetic rotary sleeve 3 with magnet 4. This toner 1... is firmly attached to sleeve 3 by charging with corona charger 6 to the polarity reverse to that of a latent image and moved together with sleeve 3. Then, it is removed from sleeve 3 mechanically with doctor blade 8 before reaching the latent image surface formed on photosensitive drum 7, slides down along blade 8, and falls on sleeve 3 by gravity and the magnetic force of magnet 4. This permits a uniform and thin magnetic brush to be formed on the circumference of sleeve 3 and the latent image to be well developed.
