Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the chargeability of the toner and obtain sharp images by containing an aliphatic fluorine-contg. compound at least in part or the whole of the surface layer of a member which applies frictional charge to the toner in the case of developing the images by using the one-component insulating toner. CONSTITUTION:If the electrostatic image holding surfce 1 of a photosensitive drum 1 moves in an arrow direction, a multipole permanent magnet 9 is so fixed as not to rotate, and therefore a nonmagnetic cylinder 4b which is a developer carrying body rotates in the same direction as that of the drum 1, by which the one- component insulating toner 11 which is being fed from a developer vessel 12 is coated on the surface of the nonmagnetic cylinder 4b. An about 10mu thick coating layer of an aliphatic fluorine-contg. compound is formed on the surface of the cylinder 4b and the charge of the polarity opposite from that of the electrostatic latent image charge is applied to the toner particles by the friction between the cylindrical surface and the toner particles, by which the sharp images of always high image density are obtained despite copying of multiple sheets.
