Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a clear picture even at high humidity by a developing method that uses a single-component insulating toner by improving the chargeability of said toner by mixing a styrene type resin in the surface layer of a member that charges the toner by friction. CONSTITUTION:In the method of developing an electric latent image formed on a photoreceptor by using friction-charged single-component insulating toner, nonmagnettic cylinder 4b is rotated in the same direction with electrostatic image holding surface 1 of the photoreceptor to apply insulating magnetic toner 11, carried from container 12, to nonmagnetic cylinder 4b, and toner particles 11 are charged with the opposite polarity to the electrostatic charge by the friction between the cylinder surface and toner particles 11. On the surface of this nonmagnetic cylinder 4b, a coat layer of about 20mum of styrene type resin is provided, to that even when many copies are taken, pictures of high picture thickness and free from fog is obtained all the time.
