Abstract

PURPOSE: To keep toner charge stable, to lengthen developer life, to eliminate troubles due to excessive charge, and to obtain a superior visible image free from fog, by adding a specified aromatic acid derivative.
CONSTITUTION: To a 100pts.wt. resin component of toner is added a 0.5W 10pts.wt compound represented by the formula in which R is H, halogen, nitro, cyano, carboxy, hydroxy, mercapto, or sulfo; R' is hydroxy, optionally substituted alkoxy or amino; m is 1 or 2; and n is an integer of 1W5. Addition of this compound almost eliminates variation of charge due to variation of conditions during the friction stage of the toner, and keeps the charge constant against variation of toner concentration in the developer accompanying repeated development, thus permitting the life of developer to be lengthened, fluctuation of image density to be prevented, and a superior visible image free from fog to be obtained.
