Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the images of sufficient density free from any photographic fog by using two developing devices which act by having a time difference on the same surface of a recording medium and a voltage larger than the voltage at which photographic fog occurs and a bias voltage enough for removing the photographic fog respectively thereto.
CONSTITUTION: Electrostatic latent images 2 having plus surface potentials are formed on the surface of a recording medium 1. The recording medium 1 moves in the arrow direction and is developed by the first and second magnetic brush forming means 3, 4. Magnet rolls 7, 8 are disposed on the inner side of non-magnetic conductive sleeves 5, 6 and magnetic toners 9, 10 are attracted to the outside circumferentical surfaces of the sleeves 5, 6 by magnetic force. A bias voltage of thepolarity opposite from that of the electrostatic latent images 2 is applied to the sleeve 7 and the bias voltage near the residual potentials of the electrostatic latent images 2 is applied to the sleeve 8. First, the toner images 13 of high image density but strong photographic fog are made, thence by developing these again with the samller bias voltage, the normal toner images 14 of sufficient image density and free from any photographic fog are obtained.
