Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the sticking of a solvent of a developer by providing a low surface energy material over a photosensitive drum surface, then cleaning the drum surface without preventing the drum surface from being rubbed against a cleaning member. CONSTITUTION:A layer of a low surface energy material such as ''Teflon '' is formed over a photosesitive drum surface 1 to prevent a solvent of a developer 8 from sticking to the photosensitive drum surface 1, and only toner dispersed in the developer 8 is attracted by the electrostatic force of a latent image to stick thereon. Toner left after a toner image is transferred by a transferring device 14 is removed from the photosensitive drum surface 1 by the developer 8 supplied by a developing and a cleaning roller 9. In this case, a bias voltage having the opposite polarity to the residual toner is applied from a cleaning bias power source 13 to the developing and cleaning roller 9 through a switch 11 to remove the residual toner easily while the ''Teflon '' thin film is not rubbed.
