Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide the device which sufficiently charges the toner and obtain distinct copied images of high contrast by letting the surface of a developer donating member be an insulation layer of more than 10<12>OMEGAcm and the portion on the inner side thereof be a conductive layer of less than 10<8>OMEGAcm. CONSTITUTION:A developer donating member 10, which carries the toner on its surface, comprises bonding an inner layer part 10b composed of silicone rubber compounded with carbon black and applied with conduction treatment on a core member 10a made of stainless steel and having an extremely thin insulation thin layer 10c coated with the ordinary silicone rubber not applied with conduction treatment thereon. The silicone rubber of the insulation thin layer 10c is an insulator of more than 10<12>OMEGAcm in specific volume resistivity and about 50mum or under in thickness and the silicone rubber of the inner layer part 10b is a conductor of less than 10<8>OMEGAcm in specific volume resistivity and about 7mm in thickness. Such constitution enables the toner to be sufficiently charged even when the resistance value of the toner is thin and even when the toner layer is thin, thus making it possible to obtain the distinct copied images of high contrast.
