Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide exact EGR in accordance with the engine load, by controlling diaphragms equipped with two negative pressure chambers each for governing EGR valves through negative pressure controlled according to the engine conditions.
CONSTITUTION: An exhaust mainfold 10 and suction tube 6 of an engine 1 are communicated with each other through an EGR conduit 14 having an EGR valve 12. A throttle valve 24 is set, upstream of an exhaust injection port 6', to the suction tube 6. Both valves 12, 24 are controlled by the first diaphragm 20 with negative pressure chambers 25, 26 and the second diaphragm 34 with negative pressure chambes 39, 40, in accordance with negative pressure introduced in these chambers. The first pressure chambers 25, 39 and the second pressure chambers 26, 40 are connected with a vacuum pump 43 through pressure reversing valves 51, 55 and water temperature sensing valve 4, respectively, the pressure reversing valves 51, 55 being controlled by a controller 61 according to the engine load.
