Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a steel material for a line pipe with excellent hydrogen inducing cracking resistance by preparing a steel material containing C, Si, Mn, P, S, Cu, Ni, Al, Ba in a specific ratio.
CONSTITUTION: A steel material containing 0.3% or less C, 0.01W0.8% Si, 0.5W 2.0% Mn, 0.04% or less P, 0.03% or less S, 0.5% or less Cu, 2.0% or less Ni, 0.1% or less Al, 0.003W0.015% Ba and, further, if necessary, one or more of 1.0% or less Cr, 0.04% or less Nb, 0.1% or less V, 0.15% or less Mo and comprising the remainder of Fe and inevitable impurities is prepared. A steel ingot or a cast billet obtained by casting said molten steel is subjected to control rolling and a steel plate obtained after rolling is subjected to a pipe making process to produce a line pipe.
