Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a high yield strength steel excellent in sour gas resisting properties by a method wherein a continuously cast bloom of a steel containing specified amounts of C, Si, Mn, S and sol-Al and also containing, if necessary, specified amounts of one or more elements selected from the group consisting of Nb, V, Ti, Cu, Cr, Mo, Ni and Ca is split into several slabs at planes passing through the central part of the bloom, and then the slabs are hot rolled.
CONSTITUTION: The continuously cast bloom of a steel containing, by weight, 0.03W0.2% of C, 0.05W0.5% of Si, 0.6W2% of Mn, less than 0.005% of S, 0.005 W0.1% of sol-Al and also containing, if necessary, one or more elements selected from the group consisting of less than 0.15% of Nb, less than 0.2% or V, less than 0.15% of Ti, less than 0.5% of Cu, less than 0.5% of Cr, less than 0.5% of Mo, less than 2% of Ni and less than 0.015% of Ca, the balance being Fe and unavoidable impurities, is split into several slabs at the planes passing through the central part of the bloom. The thus prepared slabs are hot rolled.
