Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify the manufacturing process and obtain a high-quality printed image by using a Cr-SiO cermet as a heating resistor in a thin-film type thermal recording head having a heating resistor vacuum-deposited on an aluminum substrate. CONSTITUTION:A layer of Cr(70-90%)-SiO as the heating resistor 11 vacuum- deposited on the top surface of the aluminum substrate 3 coated with a glaze layer 4, then the resistor layer is patternized by using an etching agent, Al is vacuum- deposited thereon as a wiring conductor 12 and it is etched by using an etching agent, followed by a heat treatment. Thereafter, an abrasion-resistant layer 13 is formed on the heating resistor 11 to obtain the objective thin film type thermal recording head. Accordingly, since an aqueous solution of ammonium cerium (IV) nitrate can be used as the etching agent for patternizing the resistor 11, an undercoat layer for avoiding the influence of the etching agent on the glazing layer 4 is unnecessitated. In addition, since the resistor 11 is stable to oxidation, protective films become unnecessary.
