Abstract

PURPOSE: To make possible sufficient color formation of heat sensitive paper and repeated printing of about 108 times under the same conditions in order to use the high speed thermal head for facsimiles by providing a heat accumulation layer together with a heating resistor.
CONSTITUTION: A heat accumulation layer 8 whose thermal diffusivity is 10-2 to 5×10-1 cm2/sec. is provided at thicknesses 5 to 40μm, preferably 15 to 25μm, on a glazed ceramics substrate 3 composed of a glass layer 2 and an Al2O3 substrate 1, and a heating resistor 4 is formed thereon. Electrodes 5 such as Al undercoated with Ti and further a protecting layer 6 such as Ta2O5 are provided on the resistor 4 and printing is performed on the heat sensitive paper 7. The layer 8 can be above the resistor 4 and electrodes 5, and nichrome, Al2O3, Ti, etc. of 4×10-2 to 2× 10-1 cm2/sec. in thermal diffusivity are desirable.
