Abstract

PURPOSE: To suppress the degradation of performance by using tungsten to the first layer electrode provided in direct contact with the heating element composed of an alloy of Si and metals in the thin film type thermal head which causes thermographic paper to form color by the utilization of joule heat.
CONSTITUTION: A heating resistor 3 composed of a tantalum-silicon alloy is provided on the glazed ceramic 1 provided on alumina ceramics 2 and the first electrode 1 provided at both end parts of said heating resistors 3 is formed by using tungsten. Following to this, a second electrode 5 using gold is provided on the first electrode 1 and a protection layer 6 is formed so as to cover the heating resistor 3, first, second electrodes 4, 5, to form the thermal head. The abovementioned thermal head does not show any resistance fluctuation of the resistor in the aging test of about 100 hours and is extremely stable in performance.
