Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the recording speed by forming a heat damping layer between a heating element and a glaze layer so as to allow the temperature of the heating element to be increased without being restricted by the softening temperature of the glaze layer.
CONSTITUTION: A heat damping layer 7 consisting of a material which is preferably higher than glazed glass in softening temperature and which is preferably equal to or lower than glazed glass in thermal conductivity (for example, silicon oxide and Pyrex glass) is provided on a glaze layer 2 provided on a ceramic board 1. A metal layer or Ta2O5 layer is provided as necessary on the heat damping layer 7 to allow the damping layer 7 to be fitted well on the glaze layer 2 and electrodes 4a, 4b. When heat is generated by a resistor 3 in the above-described structure, the heat is transmitted to the glaze layer 2 through the heat damping layer 7. Accordingly, an increased temperature Tb of the glaze layer 2 is lower than the temperature Ta of the heat generated by the resistor 3. The difference between the temperature Tb of the glaze layer 2 and the temperature Ta of the heat generated by the resistor 3 varies in accordance with the thermal conductivity and thickness of the heat damping layer 7. Therefore, the recording speed is not re stricted by the softening temperature of the glaze layer 2.
