Abstract
PURPOSE:To decrease power applied to a resistance body and to make possible high speed and high quality recording by a method wherein a base member supplied with a flat portion on its top and a face extending downward from the flat portion is used as a thermal head base, and a resistance body is formed in the flat portion. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder 10 made of insulating material such as glass and ceramics is used as a base of which the external circumferential surface is supplied with a flat portion 10a. A resistance body 30 is formed in the flat portion 10a utilizing the thin film coating technique. Furthermore, an electrode conductor 20 is formed on the external circumferential surface 10b in such a way that the conductor is electrically connected with the resistance body 30. In the thermal head thus formed, thermosensitive recording paper and the resistance body 30 roughly contact each other at a point. Accordingly, heat generated in the resistance body 30 is transmitted effectively to the recording paper 4, while power consumption can be minimized. At the same time, due to a heat conductor 5 provided in the cylinder, heat is not accumulated even if recording is conducted for a long time, thus preventing blotting and tailing phenomena.
