Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a long-life thin-film thermal head capable of high-speed operation by using a glass material containing more than 45wt% of SiO2 as a glaze material.
CONSTITUTION: A thin-film thermal head is produced by forming a glaze layer 2 on a substrate 1 made of alumina, ceramic, metal, or the like and sequentially forming a resistance film 3, lead film 4, protective film 5, and the like on the layer 2. In this case, a glass containing more than 45wt% of SiO2 is used as a glaze material.
EFFECT: The thin-film thermal head formed on a substrate glazed with a glass material containing more than 45wt% of SiO2 bears larger input and has a greater resistance to repeated thermal stress and a longer use life than those in which a glaze with smaller SiO2 content is used.
