Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound which is a synthetic intermediate for medicines, by reacting a hydroxyamide derivative easily available from an inexpensive lactone, etc. as a starting material with a halogenating agent, and reacting the resultant product with hydrazoic acid or a metallic azide thereof.
CONSTITUTION: A hydroxyamide derivative of formulaI(R' is alkyl cycloalkyl, cycloalkylalkyl, phenol or phenylalkyl; A is alkylene), e.g. N-cyclohexyl-5-hydroxyvaleramide, is reacted with a halogenating agent, e.g. phosphorus oxychloride or phosphorus pentachloride, and the resultant product is then reacted with hydrazoic acid or a metallic azide, e.g. sodium azide or aluminum azide, to afford a tetrazole derivative of formula II (X is halogen), e.g. 1-cyclohexyl-5-(4-chlorobutyl)tetrazole. The compound of formulaIis obtained by reacting a lactone of formula III with a compound of the formula R'NH2.
