Abstract

PURPOSE:To suppress a rapid rise of supercharging pressure when a recirculation control valve in an exhaust gas recirculating passage is closed, by providing a relief valve operated in accordance with a rapid change of exhaust or intake pressure in a diesel engine with a supercharger. CONSTITUTION:A supercharger 5 comprises a blower 6, interposed in an intake passage 2, and a turbine 8, interposed in an exhaust passage 4. If supercharging pressure reaches at least a certain level, a relief valve 15 is opened through a waste gate valve 10 to partially emit exhaut. If exhaust pressure in the exhaust passage 4 is increased, a pressure difference is generated between pressure chambers 27, 28 by the presence of a throttle 30. In this way, a relief valve 35 is opened, and exhaust is partially released to the exhaust passage in the downstream of the turbine. Thus the supercharging pressure is suppressed its rapid increase, and a shock can be reduced.
