Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve display quality and to provide a variety of displays by a construction wherein an insulated substrate having display electrodes on both sides and two of insulated substrates having a display electrode on each of its main surface are combined in such a way that each display electrode is allowed to face another, and their peripheral portions are sealed to incorporate them in one body. CONSTITUTION:After a first transparent display electrode 11 composed of an SnO2 NESA film is formed on a first main surface of a first substrate 1 comprising a transparent glass plate, the electrode is coated with a dielectric film 4 mainly composed of lead glass, and a second display electrode 12 and the dielectric film 4 are also formed on the rear surface. Similarly, a third display electrode 13 of the NESA film is formed on a glass plate, which is coated with the dielectric film 4, so that a second substrate 2 is formed. Next a fourth display electrode 14 composed of Ag paste is formed on a glass plate, which is coated with the dielectric layer 4, so that a third substrate 3 is formed. These first and third display electrodes, and the second and fourth display electrodes are allowed to face each other and combined together to form a discharge space, their peripheral portions being sealed to incorporate them into one body. In so doing, luminance and display quality can be improved.
