Abstract

PURPOSE: A relatively low melting polymer including electrically conductive tin oxide particles and another polymer are conjugate spun and the conjugate fiber is heated at a specific temperature and cooled to grow the electrically conductive structure, thus producing the objective conjugate fiber with high conductivity and whiteness.
CONSTITUTION: Conjugate fibers are made from (A) a fiber-forming polymer such as nylon 6 and (B) another electrically conductive polymer consisting of (a) a thermoplastic polymer melting at least 30°C lower, preferably more than 80°C lower than the polymer A, preferably with a crystallinity of higher than 60%, such as polyamide and of electrically conductive particles (preferably of 0.5W0.003μ average particle size) preferably by 30W85wt%. The resultant fiber is heated at a temperature ranging from the melting point of component a to that of component A and cooled to grow the electrically conductive structure, thus producing the objective conjugate fibers in which the component B of conductive layer is protected with the component A.
