Abstract

PURPOSE: A polyester containing sulfonate metal salt is melt spun, cooled once to a specific temperature, then heat drawn and taken up at a high speed, thus producing high-dyeability fibers with high physical properties as strength and elongation, high brightness and high level-dyeing property.
CONSTITUTION: A polyester that consists mainly of ethylene terephthalate unit and contains over 0.5mol%, preferably 1.5W5mol%, of the ester unit derived from dicarboxylic acid or diol bearing at least one of sulfonate metal salt is melt spun and once cooled down below 80°C. Then, the fiber is passed through the heating zone, drawn at a yarn temperature of over 80°C and taken up at a speed of over 2500m/min, preferably 3,000W3,500m/min. The polyester is preferably a copolymer containing 1W10wt% of polyoxyalkylene glycol or its functional derivative.
