Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled conjugate fiber in which the electrically conductive layer that is composed of a polymer containing particles of electrically conductive metal oxide and having specific physical properties is inserted between the protecting layers of fiber-forming polymer so that the conductive layer is exposed to the fiber surface in a specific proportion, thus being produced with relative ease without discoloration.
CONSTITUTION: (A) The protecting layer 1 of fiber-forming polymer such as polyethylene terephthalate and (B) the electrically conductive layer 2 that contains particles of electrically conductive metal oxide such as tin oxide and a polymer having poor affinity with component A and more than 60% crystallinity such as polyethylene are melt spun to join them to each other to produce the objective fiber. At this time, the conductive layer 2 occupies less than 30% on the fiber surface and is inserted between the protecting layers 1 in cross section as the former keeps almost constant or expanding width. The particle size of the conductive metal oxide is preferably 0.1W0.5μ.
