Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled dyeable fibers, obtained by the composite spinning of a fiber- forming polymer with a specific thermoplastic polymer containing cuprous iodide in a specific manner, and having improved color tone and strength.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A fiber-forming polymer, e.g. polyethylene terephthalate having a melt viscosity of 1,500W4,000 poises, is subjected to the composite spinning with (B) a mixture of (a) a thermoplastic polymer having a melt voscosity 1,000W2,500 poises lower than that of the component (A) at the spinning temperature, preferably the same type as the component (A), with (b) cuprous iodide in an amount of 1.4W3.4 times that of the component (a) to give composite fibers in which at least part of the surface is formed by the component (B) and the area ratio of the component (B) is preferably 3W50% based on the cross-sectional area of the fibers.
