CONSTITUTION:A luminescent tube 2 comprising a transparent ceramic tube or a single crystal sapphire and the like is accommodated in a glass wall bulb 1 of a high pressure sodium lamp. A near-by conductor 6 is set in the outer wall of the luminescent tube 2 for easy starting, and its one end is connected to an electrode 3 on one side through a discharge tube 9. Therefore, by selecting a dielectric breakdown voltage of the discharge tube 9 in a range of about 200V, the luminescent tube 2 can be lit satisfactrily by the voltage from a stabilizer with a starting voltage generator and is cooled for easy starting and can be lit simultaneously. Thus, short starting time and its less dispersion can be achieved.
