CONSTITUTION:The outer tube bulb 1 is housed with the luminous tube 10 in which the main electrodes 11 are arranged in a mutually facing manner in the quartz glass bulb and also the starting-up auxiliary electrode 12 is arranged in proximity to one of the main electrodes 11. The distance 1 between the main electrodes 11 of the luminous tube 10 is set up the range of 0.3<l-P/100<=2.3, where P(W) is the lamp power, and the lamp voltage is set up to 135-155V. Thus, the going-out characteristic can be improved and the lamp voltage can be also increased by shortening the distance between electrodes, and therefore at least 5% power saving for the whole lighting circuit can be attained even if there is a dispersion of + or -10V in the manufacturing technology.
