Abstract

PURPOSE:To safely light on a high pressure sodium lamp by means of a choke type stabilizer, by connecting a surge absorber element in parallel to a luminous bulb, or a bi-metallic switch, or an inductance stabilizer for lighting. CONSTITUTION:End caps 2 and 3 made of an alumina ceramic are sealed with a ceramic cement at both ends of a transparant luminous bulb 1 consisting of a polycrystalline alumina ceramic bulb or a monocrystalline alumina bulb, and niobium bulbs 4 and 5, which serve as a current lead-in substance, are further sealed at the end caps 2 and 3 respectively. Tungsten coil electrodes 6 and 7, in which an electrode emission is filled, are fixed at the ends of the niobium bulbs. A surge absorber element 12, such as ZNR, is connected in parallel to the luminous bulb 8 or a bi-metallic switch 10 or an inductance stabilizer for lighting, and thus, an input voltage is regulated so as not to exceed a given voltage.
