Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a cast ingot for producing composite metal plates having desired characteristics by making ingot by disposing dissimilar molten metal above the upper part of a cast metal in a mold when the bottom part of the cast metal is solidified and the upper part thereof is in a molten state.
CONSTITUTION: Molten metal is poured into a mold by top pouring, bottom pouring or horizontal pouring. A heat insulating material is disposed on the top surface of the poured metal and a heat insulating material is disposed on the inside wall of the mold to allow solidification to take place from the bottom part after the pouring. It is equally well to cool the molding board in the bottom part of the mold by means of a cooling medium or the like. Molten metal is then poured and when the lower part of the poured metal has solified and the upper part is in a molten state, a lead- in pipe is positioned in a horizontal direction in the inside of the molten metal and molten dissimilar metal is poured and disposed.
