Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent occurrence of misrun and defective degassing at thin parts and acute-angled parts and obtain cast products of excellent quality by vibrating the mold in casting molten metal.
CONSTITUTION: The molding flask 1 filled with the mold M is placed on the sand 3 in the sand box 2 and the sand box 2 is set on the vibration plate 3. The molten metal is poured into the mold M and vibrator 6 is vibrated. The vibration is cushioned by the charcoal e in the sand box 2 and transmitted to the molding flask 1. Consequently, the vibration is transmitted also to the molten metal in the mold M to promote fluidity and degassing action. The frequency and amplitude of vibration are adjusted by the control panel 7 according to the quality of molten metal and shape of the mold M. At the same time, proper selection is made for the nature of the vibration, vertical, horizontal or combination of the two. Thus, the run at thin parts is improved, degassing in solidification of the molten metal is bettered, and cast products of good quality can be obtained.
