Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce the slab for clad steel plates with high productivity by a continuous casting method by injecting dissimilar kinds of molten steels on both sides of a steel plate for partition while inserting the steel plate for partition into the mold for continuous casting according to casting speeds. CONSTITUTION:A partition plate c is inserted into a mold 1 for continous casting in accordance with pulling speed of the continuous slab. Molten metal a of ordinary steel and molten metal of steel material for clad material such as stainless steel or the like are simultaneously poured on both sides of a partition plate c from tundishes 4a, 4b, whereby continuous casting is done. The partition plate used, which is of 3-15mm in thickness and is made of the steel material of the same quality as either of the molten metals a, b, does not melt up to the outlet of the mold 1, hence it prevents the mingling with each other of the molten metals a, b before solidification. In this way, the continuously cast slab for clad steel plates composed of ordinary steel a and dissimilar steel b such as stainless steel or the like is produced under high yield and high productivity.
