Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance the utilization ratio of a positive active material and improve the polarization characteristics and the discharge characteristics of a solid-electrolyte battery whose positive active material is made of either iodine or a iodine compound, by adding a divalent-metal oxide to the positive electrode. CONSTITUTION:A positive electrode 3 made of either iodine or an iodine compound is placed in a positive-electrode can 1 which also serves as a positive terminal. A solid-electrolyte layer 4 is placed on the positive electrode 3. A negative electrode 5 made of a lithium plate is placed in a negative-electrode can 6 which also serves as a negative terminal. After that a gasket 2 is interposed between the can 1 and the can 6 to calk and seal the battery. In addition, an adhesive 7 whose main component is an epoxy resin is applied to the calked part, the adhesive is hardened, and the whole constitutes a solid-electrolyte battery. The positive electrode 3 is added with a divalent-metal oxide such as CdO, MgO, CaO and BaO. Here, the content of the oxide is preferred to be in a range of 0.001-0.15mol per iodine atom.
