Abstract
PURPOSE:To avoid the discharge from deflecting to one direction as well as to ensure a long life by preventing the local heating of the tube doby, by giving displacement to the discharging position from the axial center of the tube body for at least one the two electrodes provided to both ends of the tube body. CONSTITUTION:The axial center is displaced from that of tube body 15 for a pair of electrodes 16 and 16 provided across body 15 comprising exciting lamp 13, with the axial center of electrode 16 and 16 set at the most distant place from laser rod 12. As a result, the discharge between electrode 16 and 16 features a curve which deflecting more toward rod 12 as the discharge goes toward the center between 16 and 16 in the area between the spherical tips of 16 and 16. Thus, the heating of only one side near rod 12 can be avoided for body 15, and furthermore the discharge is caused at the spherical center of the tips of 16 and 16. And thus the heat generated at the center part is radiated uniformly to body 15 near electrode 16 and 16. Accordingly, the area near 16 and 16 is prevented from being impaired by the local heating with a high temperature.
