Abstract

PURPOSE:To lower the discharge starting voltage of a gas laser oscillator having a coaxial double discharge tube for flowing coolant fluid including infinitesimal amount of conductive substance by making the coolant fluid contact with one electrode of the tube and making it noncontact with the other electrode. CONSTITUTION:Electrodes 2 are provided at both ends of a glass discharge tube 1', a fully reflecting mirror 4 is provided at one end face thereof, and an output mirror 5 is arranged on the other end face thereof. The discharge tube 1' is thus formed, high voltage from a power supply 3 is applied to the electrode 2, and a laser is radiated in a direction of an arrow 6 from the output mirror 5. In the CO2 gas laser of large power type thus formed, the discharge tube 1' is formed in coaxial double discharge tube, the end of the double discharge tube is opened at the side of the fully reflecting mirror 4, the electrode 2 and the mirror 4 are enclosed with metallic member 8 through rubber packing 7, and the electrode 2 is connected directly with the coolant fluid 10' from an industrial water or civil work water. On the other hand, the other end of the double discharge tube is closed, and is no contact with the electrode 2 surrounded by the metallic member 9.
