Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the dimensions of a blower and lower power consumption by a method wherein discharge space is limited to one section in a discharge tube, a temperature rise of gas in the discharge space is suppressed by mixing the internal and external gas of the discharge space, and the velocity of flow of a circulation gas in the discharge space is decreased. CONSTITUTION:Linear electrodes 13, 15 are each arranged into each dielectric tube 12, 14, and one end of one linear electrode 13 is connected to a high-frequency power source 16. In the other linear electrode 15, an end section existing at the opposite side in the axial direction of a discharge tube 1 against the one end of the linear electrode 13 is connected to the high-frequency power source 16. When high- frequency voltage is applied, silent discharge is generated between dielectrics 12 and 14. Discharge space is limited between the dielectric tubes 12, 14, but a mixed gas flows circulating in the whole discharge tube 1. Specially when a condition of a flow is previously brought to a turbulent flow, gas, temperature thereof rises in the discharge space, and gas outside the discharge space are mixed.
