Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a relatively-small focus and to eliminate discharge along a surface by constituting a part adjacent to the cathode of a hood by an insulator when providing a fixed anode with the hood, of nearly the same outer diameter as the anode, projecting in the cathode direction.
CONSTITUTION: In glass bulb 5, cathode 4 provided with filament 3 and fixed anode 1 with target 8 opposite to it are both arranged. Then, cylindrical hood 9 projecting toward cathode 4 surrounding target 8 is fitted to the tip of anode 1 through brazing part 7. To form this hood 9, hood 9 is formed of cylindrical metal, a window with embeded beryllium plate 6 serving for a X-ray path is provided to one flank, and the tip cylinder connecting to it is made of an inorganic insulator such as ceramic high in heat resistance.
