Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent insulating glass being from destroyed due to discharge phenomena by making the support section of a plate-type electrode thinner than the mother material of an electrode and its insertion section into glass wider than its root section when the plate-type electrode is supported on the insulating glass. CONSTITUTION:An electron gun frame consists of a cathode 1 and G1-G6 electrodes 2-7. Each electrode is supported by four sheets of insulating glass 8 through the support section and holds specified electrode spacing. For the shape of the support section of the plate-type G4 electrode 5, the tip l2 of the insertion section 15a into the insulating glass 8 is made broader by 50-70% than its root section l1 and the support section 15a is made thinner approximately by three fourth to one fourth than the electrode mother material 15b. As a result, there does not occur a sag surface between the insulating glass 8 and the electrode 5. Since discharge phenomena can be prevented from being concentrated on its part, an accurate support can be performed without destroying the insulating glass 8.
