Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent breakdown discharge from occuring at the electrode part of a fluorescent lamp which has a curved discharge route in its outer tube, by insulating the contact between an inner-tube holding material and an electrode-shielding material. CONSTITUTION:Both or either one of an inner-tube holding material 5 and/or an electrode-shielding material 7 and 7' are/is either coated with or formed of an insulating material. With this constitution, the insulation between the electrodes is completely achieved. As a result, no insulation breakdown arises between the positive electrode 1, and either the inner-tube holding material 5 or the electrode- shielding material, and thereby the lighting start of a fluorescent lamp by the kick pulse, which is applied between the electrodes, is secured.
