CONSTITUTION:Main electrodes 2, 3 are arranged on both sides and a filament 15 made from tungsten for heating the main electrodes is provided in close proximity to one 2 of the main electrodes. One end of the filament is connected with the main electrode 2. In addition, a projection 13 externally projected from the central portion of a luminous tube 1 is formed and a heating body 14 is spirally wound on the projection. This body 14 for heating the projection is placed across the main electrode 3 and a lead wire 9. With this construction, starting of a discharge can be made extremely easy, while restarting time is shortened. In addition, the voltage necessary for restarting is also considerably reduced.
