CONSTITUTION:Main electrodes 2 and 3 are installed inside an emission tube 1. One or two heating bodies 21 are installed inside the tube 1, near the electrode 2 or near both electrodes 2 and 3 so that the end of the body 21 connected to the electrode 2 has the same electric potential as the electrode 2. A starting auxiliary body 23 made of a conductor is installed outside the tube 1, near the body 21. After the body 21 is heated by feeding current to it, a given voltage is applied across the electrodes 2 and 3 so as to make electric discharge to develop.
