Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain high precision by completely eliminating angular difference of optical rotation and phase difference, by combining two specific single crystal plates having electro-optical effect and photo conductive effect of waveform dependence. CONSTITUTION:Inclinations of the same and opposing angle theta are provided on the mutually adjoining sides of single crystal plates 1, 41 made from Bi12SiO20 or the like. On both sides of the plate 1, insulation layers 2, 2' of polyparaxylene or the like and transparent electrodes 3, 3' are provided. On the output side of this picture image transforming element is disposed the plate 41, and mutually short-circuited transparent electrodes 42, 42' are provided on the both sides thereof. A voltage is applied to the plate 1 from a power source 4, and when the picture image information of the incoherent light is transformed into picture image information of coherent light, the deviations of angle of optical rotaion and phase which the light 43 transmitted from the thin part of plate 1 and the light 44 transmitted from the thick part thereof receive are completely corrected by passing the light 43 through the thick part of plate 41 and the light 44 through the thin part thereof.
