Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.正の誘電異方性を有する極性化合物の混合物を基材とする液晶媒体であって 、下記一般式Iで表わされる1種または2種以上の化合物を含有することを特徴 とする液晶媒体: 式中、 RはHであるか、または炭素原子1〜15個を有するアルキル基またはアルケ ニル基であり、この基は未置換であるか、あるいは置換基として1個のCNまた はCF3を有するか、あるいは置換基として少なくとも1個のハロゲンを有し、 またこの基中に存在する1個または2個以上のCH2基はそれぞれ相互に独立し て、O原子が相互に直接に結合しないものとして、 または−O−CO−O−により置き換えられていてもよく、 YはFまたはClであるか、または炭素原子1〜6個を有するハロゲン化され ているアルキル基、アルケニル基またはアルコキシ基であり、そして L1はHまたはFである。 2.一般式II、III、IV、VおよびVIからなる群から選択される1種ま たは2種以上の化合物をさらに含有することを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の媒 体: 各式中、各基は下記の意味を有する: R0:それぞれ7個までの炭素原子を有するn−アルキル基、オキサアルキル 基、フルオロアルキル基またはアルケニル基である、 X0:FまたはClであるか、あるいは炭素原子1〜6個を有するハロゲン化 されているアルキル基、アルケニル基またはアルコキシ基である、 Y1およびY2:それぞれ相互に独立して、HまたはFである、 r:0または1である。 3.式I〜式VIで表わされる化合物の割合が総合して、総混合物の少なくとも 50重量%であることを特徴とする、請求項2に記載の媒体。 4.式Iで表わされる化合物の割合が、総混合物の5〜95重量%であることを 特徴とする、請求項1または2に記載の媒体。 5.式II〜式VIで表わされる化合物の割合が、総混合物の20〜80重量% であることを特徴とする、請求項2および3の少なくとも1項に記載の媒体。 6.下記式で表わされる化合物をさらに含有することを特徴とする、請求項1に 記載の媒体: 式中、R0、X0およびY2は請求項2に定義されているとおりである。 7.X0がFまたはOCF3であり、そしてY2がHまたはFであることを特徴と する、請求項6に記載の媒体 8.下記式で表わされる化合物の1種または2種以上をさらに含有することを特 徴とする、請求項1に記載の媒体: 式中、 X0はF、OCHF2またはOCF3であり、 Y1およびY2はそれぞれ相互に独立して、HまたはFであり、そして R0はそれぞれ7個までの炭素原子を有するn−アルキル基、オキサアルキル 基、フルオロアルキル基またはアルケニル基である。 9.下記式XVIIで表わされる1種または2種以上の化合物をさらに含有する ことを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の媒体: 式中、 RaおよびRbはそれぞれ相互に独立して、炭素原子1〜5個を有する直鎖状の アルキル基またはアルコキシ基である。 10.請求項1に記載の液晶媒体の電気−光学目的への使用。 11.請求項1に記載の液晶媒体を含有する電気光学液晶ディスプレイ。
