Abstract

(57)【要約】 【目的】 熱可塑性材料層と導電性材料層と繊維材料支
持層とが積層された包装材料同志を互いに重ね合わせ
て、シールジョーから高周波電流を導電性材料層に印加
して熱可塑性材料層を加熱溶融し、シールジョーの押圧
面から突出する突条でシール帯域を局部的に圧して、溶
融材料を流動させることにより、上記包装材料同志を互
いに流体密に接合する。 【構成】 シールジョー5の表面から突出する導電性の
突条9に高周波電流を印加しつつ、この突条9を、熱可
塑性材料層3、導電性材料層4ならびに繊維材料支持層
1からなる積層包装材料10、11の重ね合わせに押し
つけて、導電性材料層4を介して熱可塑性材料層3を加
熱溶融する。さらにシール帯域13,14の中央領域が
突条9で局部的に押しつけられるので、溶融した熱可塑
性材料層3が流動して導電性材料層4の表面から微細な
ゴミなどの異物を流失せしめ、これら導電性材料4間に
異物の混在を無くして接触性を高め、包装材料層10,
11同志の密封接合を容易にかつ十分なものとする。

Description

【発明の詳細な説明】
【0001】
【産業上の利用分野】本発明は、シール帯域内の熱可塑
性材料の外層を互いに接触させてこれらを一時的にシー
ル温度に加熱し、融着するようにして包装積層材料をヒ
ートシールした包装積層品に関する。
【0002】
【従来の技術】使い捨て方式の包装容器は、牛乳、果実
飲料等に用いられ、一般に積層包装材料で作られる。包
装材料は、両側を均質のプラスチック材料の薄い層で覆
われた、比較的剛性の中心支持層を具備する。この材料
は、アルミニウムはくまたはその他の材料を具備するこ
ともできる。この型の全ての包装積層材料に共通の特徴
は、これらがその外側、少なく共内容物に面する側に熱
可塑性材料、通常はポリエチレンの層を具備し、それに
よって互いに対向した積層材料の二つの部分を熱と圧力
とによって共に液密状態にシールできることである。
【0003】シールが所望の強さと液密性とを有するた
めには、共にシールすべき二つの熱可塑性の層が必ず清
浄で不純物の無いことが必要である。このような場合に
は熱可塑性の各層の完全な融合を得ることができ、その
結果、強い高密封性の点から見て最適のシールがもたら
される。熱可塑性の層の上には通常、熱可塑性の層の押
出しと共に包装積層材料上に形成される薄い酸化物の被
膜が存在するために熱可塑性の各層の完全な融合が往々
にして阻害され、従ってシールは理論的には可能な強さ
と密封性とを得られない。熱可塑性の層の表面には、例
えば、更にシールを阻害する内容物の残留物のような別
の種類の不純物も生ずる可能性がある。これは、内容物
が在る間に積層材料のシールが行われる、即ちシールを
行い得る前に互いに対向して置かれた熱可塑性材料の表
面間のすきまから内容物を先ず押し出さなければならな
い、という形式の包装製造に特有の問題である。しかし
実際問題として内容物は完全には絞り出されずに微量の
残留物が残り、これがシールを弱める。

【発明が解決しようとしている問題点】本発明の目的
は、前述の全ての難点が回避され且つ得られたシールが
最適の性状を有する前述の形式の包装積層材料をヒート
シールした包装積層品を提供することを目的とする。本
発明の更に目的とするところは、たとえ包装積層材料が
例えば、酸化物、包装内容物の残留物、あるいは残渣の
ような不純物で覆われていても最適なシールを有する包
装積層材料をヒートシールした包装積層品を提供するこ
とにある。

【問題を解決する手段】本発明の以上その他の目的は繊
維質材料の支持層の内側に導電性材料層を有し、さらに
その内側に熱可塑性材料層を有する一対の包装積層材料
が互いに、その最内層である熱可塑性層間でヒートシー
ルされた包装積層品であって、シールジョーの突条によ
り溶融熱可塑性材料が押し出されるヒートシール時に残
留し包装積層材料と密着したシール帯域熱可塑性薄層
と、前記熱可塑性薄層に隣接し、前記ヒートーシール時
に該熱可塑性薄層側から押し出された溶融熱可塑性材料
と混合して形成されたシール帯域たい積部分と、該シー
ル帯域たい積部分に隣接し、該ヒートシール時に固体を
維持してシール帯域から溶融熱可塑性材料の流出を抑え
る、対向した1対の熱可塑性材料層とを有することを特
徴とするヒートシールされた包装積層品により達成され
る。

【作用】シールジョーには突条のみならず隣接領域をも
含む積層材料を加熱する領域が具備されているので、加
熱された熱可塑性材料は線状領域から隣接領域へ高速で
押しやられ、それにより既述のように効果的な混合と、
従って優れたシールが得られる。溶融熱可塑性材料がシ
ール帯域から隣接部分わきへ押しやられる間に、溶融熱
可塑性材料は可能な限りの不純物を混入連行し、一方、
互いに対向して置かれた積層材料の二つの熱可塑性の層
は、完全な融合が達成される程度にまで効果的に混合さ
れる。シール帯域内には不純物の無い非常に薄い熱可塑
性の層のみが残り、これが包装積層材料と密着し、一方
シール帯域の隣接領域内では双方の熱可塑性の層からの
良く混合された熱可塑性材料のたい積部分によって強み
と優れた密封性が保証される。

【実施例の記載】本発明による包装積層品の製造方法な
らびにその製造装置の好適な実施例を添付図を参照し
て、詳細に説明する。図1に示す包装積層材料は、牛乳
およびその他の飲料の包装にしばしば用いられる形式の
ものである。この包装積層材料は全体の厚さが0.4な
いし0.5mmで、繊維状物質の中央支持層1を具備し、
この層1はその両側を熱可塑性材料、特にポリエチレ
ン、の比較的薄い均質な層2,3で覆われている。外側
のプラスチック層3の一方と支持層1との間には更にア
ルミニウムはく等の導電性材料層4が存在し、この層は
熱可塑性材料(図示せず)によって支持層に接合され、
外側の均質な層3によって完全に覆われる。外側の熱可
塑性の層2,3があるために、互いにシールされるべき
各部分を一緒に押し付け、同時に熱可塑性材料をその溶
融温度にまで加熱することにより、包装積層品を容易に
ヒートシールすることができる。本発明による包装積層
品の製造方法およびその製造装置によって多形式の包装
積層材料をシールすることももちろん可能であるが、そ
の包装積層材料は熱可塑性材料の層を備えなければなら
ない、とういことが前以て必要である。
【0008】図2は本発明による装置のシールジョー5
の断面を部分的に示す。シールジョー5は、電気的に不
導性の材料で作られ、導電性の材料、なるべくなら銅、
の棒7が挿入される溝を一方の側面に具えた本体6を具
備する。本体の一方の側面の中央に位置する棒7は、本
体6の周囲の部分と共にシールジョー5の作用面8を形
成する。この棒7は作用面8から突出する突条9が設け
られる。突条9は、断面がほぼ長方形であり、高さが積
層材料の厚さの0.2ないし0.8倍、なるべくは0.
5倍、の範囲であり、幅が包装積層材料の厚さにほぼ等
しいものである。かくしてシールジョー5の作用面8は
積層材料を加熱する中央に在る領域を具備し、これに一
方では突条9が、また他方では突条の側に少なく共一つ
の隣接領域が具えられる。アルミニウムはくを含む積層
材料の高周波溶接を可能とするために、棒7内の材料を
介して、積層材料を加熱する領域を高周波方式などの電
源に接続することができる。アルミニウムはくまたはそ
の他の導電性の層を含まない包装積層材料を一緒に接合
すべき場合には、積層材料を加熱する領域または棒7を
加熱し、また例えば電気抵抗材料でこれを構成すること
もできる。
【0009】本発明による包装積層品を製造する為に用
いられるシールジョーは、材質ならびに形式の異なった
包装容器のシールの必要条件を満たすために、本発明の
概念の範囲内で、これを種々の方法で修正することがで
きる。この種の代表的な修正として、有害な温度上昇、
あるいは加熱されてはならない隣接領域への好ましくな
い熱の拡散を防止する冷却剤、例えば水、の1個以上の
導管をシールジョーに設けることができる。シールジョ
ーを、相互に動き得る幾つかの部分として設計すること
もできる。例えば、突条9の両側にあるシールジョーの
部分を、突条9に対して動き得るようにし且つ材料に向
かう方向にばね荷重をかけ、それによって適切な接触圧
力が自動的に生ずるようにすることができる。シールジ
ョーはこれを二重にすることができ、換言すれば、互い
にある距離をおいて配設された前述の形式の2個の本体
を具備することができる。この実施例は、包装材料のチ
ューブが密封される、即ち二つの横断帯域でシールされ
且つこれらの間で切断される場合に特に適しているが、
それはシールジョーの2個の本体の間の空間でナイフま
たはその他何等かの適当な切断装置をその時に作動させ
ることができるからである。
【0010】図3は、本発明による包装積層品を製造す
る方法と装置とによって二つの包装積層材料を一緒にシ
ールする際のシール順序を示す。二つの包装積層材料1
0,11(または折り畳まれた同じ包装積層材料の二つ
の部分)が、シールに備えて、それらの外側の熱可塑性
の層3が互いに対向するように接合されている。包装積
層材料は、シールジョー5と、包装積層材料の反対側に
対向して位置する対向ジョー12(一点鎖線で示す)と
によって一緒に押し付けられる。このシールジョー5は
図2に示す形式のもので、一方対向ジョー12には積層
材料11に対向して位置する平らな作用面が設けられ
る。ジョー5,12は液圧式または機械式の駆動装置に
よって往復運動できるようにして包装機械のフレーム
(図示せず)に懸架され、これによりシールの際ある程
度の調節可能な力でこれらを一緒に押し付けることがで
きる。ジョーが互いに向き合って動き、その間に置かれ
た包装積層材料10,11を一緒に押し付け始めると同
時にシールジョー5の棒7が高周波電源に接続される。
このようにして包装積層材料のアルミニウム層4内に交
番磁界が誘導され、それによってこれらが棒7の表面に
対応する領域内で隣接する熱可塑性の層の溶融温度より
かなり高い温度にまで加熱される。生成された熱はアル
ミニウム層間に位置する熱可塑性の層3に直接伝達さ
れ、それによってこれらが溶融し、流体となる。包装積
層材料を突起9と同じ高さで一緒に押しやる高い圧力
(約100kg/cm2 )のために、溶融熱可塑性材料はシ
ール帯域13,14全体の中の高圧の領域13から隣接
部分14に走り、または流れ込む。シール帯域13,1
4の外方の領域で互いに対向して位置する熱可塑性の層
3は引き続き固体の状態を保ち、互いに対向して押し付
けられるので、溶融熱可塑性材料はそれ以上シール帯域
外方に流出できずに参照番号14で示される二つの帯域
に留まり、ここで細長い圧力帯域13と平行に延びるふ
くらみ部分15を形成し、その中で互いにシールされた
二つの層が混合される。帯域13内には表面の凹凸等の
ために絞り出され得ない微量のプラスチック材料のみが
残り、一方、この帯域の両側に形成されたふくらみ部分
15にはよく混合されたプラスチックの余剰分が包含さ
れ、実用上充分な強さのシールが二つの層の間に得られ
る。帯域13から帯域14に至る流れが非常に速いの
で、流動するプラスチック材料内に生ずる乱流によって
互いに対向して位置する二つの層の間からのプラスチッ
ク材料のよい混合が保証され、したがって表面に存在す
るいかなる表面酸化物またはその他の不純物(例えば包
装内容物の残留物からの)でもプラスチック内に効果的
に混合され、それ故シールの強さを損うような不純物の
いかなる凝集性の膜も残存することがない。
【0011】ある種の充てん物と共に使用するには、よ
り幅広く且つ平たんなふくらみ部分15を得るために溶
融熱可塑性材料の流れを突条部分から更に遠方へ移行す
ることが有利であろう。この手法によれば、前述の実施
例に比べて更に円滑且つ柔軟性のあるシールを達成する
ことが可能である。またこれによって、シールをより強
め、突出を生じて集中応力がかかる部分のないような、
より直線的なシール・エッジが得られる。前述の利点
は、突条9の縦方向の縁の一方が作用面8の加熱領域の
一方の縁と概ね合致し(図4)、それによって突条9に
隣接する加熱領域が突条の他の側の作用面8のレベルよ
り高いレベルに置かれる本発明の包装積層品の第2の製
造装置例によって達成される。第2装置例の更に特徴と
するところによれば、加熱区域のレベルと突条9のレベ
ルとの間の距離は、前記加熱区域と突条9の他の側の作
用面8のレベルとの間の距離にほぼ等しく、換言すれば
距離aは距離bとほぼ同等である(図4)。
【0012】本発明による包装積層品の第2製造装置例
が用いられる場合には、加熱区域に対する突条9の非対
称的な位置決めにより、溶融熱可塑性材料の流れの絶対
的に多くの部分が突条の加熱される側に向けて指向され
る。加熱区域が高い位置(第1の前記例に比べて)にあ
ることにより、加熱区域の外側に在り従って固体の状態
にある熱可塑性の層に到達する前の熱可塑性材料の流れ
に、より小さく、より細長い空間が残される。従って突
条9の直前にある高圧帯域から絞り出された熱可塑性材
料の細長いふくらみ、またはたい積部分15は、ふくら
み部をより柔軟性のあるものとし、シールを更に強力な
ものとする、より平たんで細長い断面形状を与えられ
る。さらに、溶融熱可塑性材料のふくらみ、あるいはた
い積部分15が限定された線状の外見を具えることを保
証するため、シール帯域13,14の外側に位置する二
つのプラスチック積層品の部分を冷却することもでき
る。これは、シール領域の外側に位置して中に液体を通
す冷却導管を2個のジョー5,12に設けるか、あるい
は内容物の外に同時に力を加えて行われる形式のシール
の場合、包装積層材料の隣接部分を内容物で冷却させる
か、のいずれかによって達成することができる。中央領
域13から隣接領域14への溶融熱可塑性材料の効果的
な流れを確保するためには、熱可塑性材料の温度が約1
30℃を超えると同時に、シール帯域の線状領域13内
の面圧が約100kg/cm2 となるような力で突条9を包
装積層材料に押し付けなければならない。
